It is rare for a royal to attend the Met Gala. Princess Catherine has never been to the event either. In fact, only two British royals have ever attended: the late Princess Diana showed up in 1996, while Princess Beatrice made a surprise appearance in 2018.

She is “the elusive chanteuse,” after all. This event might be a little too busy for her tastes.

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer has never explained why she’s avoided the Met Gala in the past, but frequently, the event has overlapped with her touring or residency schedules. Not to mention, whenever the English singer isn’t promoting new music, she tends to stay away from the spotlight.

Last year, in an interview with Glamour, Aniston explained: “Yes, I have [been invited], but I don’t go. It overwhelms me. It’s the getting ready, the putting on the dress. I’m a ‘jeans and flip-flops and tank top’ kind of girl. I love dressing up too, but for me it’s a mental game of…‘Let’s get dressed up, put on a fancy dress, makeup, get your hair all purdy and go sit in a big room with your peers.’ [And yes,] everyone’s there to celebrate each other and have some fun, but I get nervous.”

In his 2022 track “Sticky,” the Canadian rapper explains that his inability to bring his whole team is part of the reason why he’s never been to the Met Gala. “They only givin’ n**gas plus ones, so I never pull up to the Met / You know I gotta bring the set,” he sings.

In the past, Fonda has expressed a dislike for red-carpet events. “I don’t care if I ever do that again. I don’t enjoy it; I never have,” she told InStyle magazine of getting dressed up.

Jolie has never offered a reason as to why she skips fashion’s biggest night, but it could be due to the fact that she tends to avoid red carpets that aren’t connected to her film or charity work.

Although the Smiths have made a number of joint red-carpet appearances over the years, they’ve never made it to the Met Gala. Both of their kids—Jaden and Willow—have attended, though.

The Queen of Country has never walked the Met steps, likely because she doesn’t attend red carpets often (the last time she was spotted on a carpet was back in 2023).

“The Rock” may consistently be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but he has yet to attend fashion’s biggest night.

Despite her many memorable red-carpet appearances, Spencer has yet to make her debut at the Met Gala.

Pitt tends to stick mostly to movie premieres and award shows, never having graced the Met Gala red carpet.

Wong has risen to even greater prominence in the past few years, thanks to roles on shows like Beef (which earned her an Emmy Award). So, her Met invite might be right around the corner.
