This epic product review on Amazon gets a job offer from Sleepy Owl Coffee CEO

How do you make yourself stand out in the crowd of job seekers? With the best CV, the right attitude, looks, and more, right? But can a product review on Amazon land you a job? Apparently, it can, and Delhi-based Sleepy Owl Coffee is looking to hire one Prasiddh, impressed by the product review he left on Amazon.

Copywriting at its best

“Dear Prasiddh, whoever you are, wherever you are, please get in touch with me. Sleepy Owl Coffee needs to hire you,” Ashwajeet Singh, the CEO of Sleepy Owl Coffee, wrote in a LinkedIn post.

What a review — I couldn’t stop laughing the entire time. This is copywriting at its best,” Singh said further in his post.

He also posted a screenshot of the Amazon review written by Prasiddh.

Review that landed a job offer

In the long review, the user narrated how she had invited a boy over to her place that day.

“I am sure I was one fluttery-eyed ‘Do you want coffee?’ away from an ‘I love you’ and confidently skipped the talking-stage ‘Add to Cart’ and went in straight with the committed ‘Shop Now’ button,” the review, titled ‘Where Did My Jars Go?’ read.

“I stepped into my kitchen, dejected, despondent, and desolate. The first thing I spot is the only branded thing on the counter—Sleepy Owl Coffee jars,” the review read.

The review then goes into detail about how Prasiddh struggled to make good coffee.

“I opened the dating app folder on my phone. Scrolling won’t cut it, but swiping would! I was confident if I tastefully begged for help, I would land up with a match made in caffeinated heaven. I changed my first image on the apps and put a picture of me and my coffee jars asking, ‘Looking for someone to make frothy coffees with.’ Sleepy Owl played the perfect wing-owl for me. Apparently, every single man on the internet is a coffee aficionado, to the point of pure narcissism. I didn’t mind! I wanted a man who could make me believe. Believe what? It didn’t matter. Just believe worked for me,” it read.

The next day, the boy texted her and he came to her home again.

“He entered the kitchen, he made a cup of frothy coffee, and I tasted heaven that day. Was it his touch, was it my own Sleepy Owl, was it the love brewing between us? I don’t know, I was imagining a daily coffee routine between the two of us. I was lost in that mini coffee date moment and one thing led to the other. What had to happen… happened,” the review read.

This is not a heartbreak post

“The next day, I woke up from the best coffee date ever and turned to find his side of the bed empty. He left without saying bye?! This is not a heartbreak post, it could have been, but he made sure it wasn’t. When I realized he had taken my precious coffee jars with him, with one of them barely having less than half the contents left, my anger was through the roof!! No point though. I was blocked.”

“Looks like the taste of heaven in a cup is the only thing we silently agreed on last night. But that stingy ass mf left me missing my jars and hence I had to reorder within a week. Regardless, my Sleepy (lil) Owls were not at fault, and hence, I give this full 5 stars,” the review continued.

Stay tuned for more reviews

Prasiddh ended the long story by saying, “I am a copywriter and love to weave my real-life experiences into consumable content nuggets. And if you’ve made it to the end, stay tuned for my newfound love of reviewing all my Amazon buys as if I’m writing a fan-fiction.”

How people reacted

Unsurprisingly, the review has impressed many on LinkedIn.

“People in 2018—I’ll apply to a job by sending a resume.

People in 2023—I’ll make a personal brand and land my dream job.

Some cool guy in 2024—I’ll just write a freaking terrific Amazon review and get hired,” one person wrote.

Some even suggested that this entire story should be made into an ad.

Brewing a Better Half-Gallon Batch
