Is Donald Trump going to the 2025 Oscars? All the celebrities who have confirmed their attendance

This Sunday, March 2, marks the 97th edition of the Oscars, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to celebrate and reward the best in cinema, including feature films, short films, performances, and technical achievements.

The lead-up to the awards ceremony will include the traditional red carpet, where celebrities show off their most glamorous looks. Once inside the gala, alongside the nominees, the audience will include famous faces presenting the awards, the evening’s host, and others involved with this year’s nominated films. But many are wondering whether President Donald Trump will attend.

Last month, Trump made a historic public appearance at Super Bowl LIX, becoming the first sitting president to attend the NFL’s biggest game of the season. But will he also show up at the Oscars?

Will Donald Trump attend the 2025 Oscars?

The White House has not confirmed whether Trump will be at the 97th Academy Awards, but it’s possible the president could make his presence felt in a different way — something he’s done every year since first taking office in 2017. Whether it’s through comments from attendees or posts on his social media accounts, Trump has found a way to insert himself into Hollywood’s biggest night.

At the 2017 Oscars, when La La Land was mistakenly announced as Best Picture instead of Moonlight, Trump blamed the now-infamous mix-up on Hollywood’s obsession with him. “They were so focused on politics that they couldn’t get the basics right,” Trump told Breitbart News in February of that year. “It was a little sad. It took the glamour away from the Oscars.”

Over the years, Trump has frequently turned to social media to share his thoughts on the ceremony — mostly to criticize the hosts, such as Jimmy Kimmel, or the winners, like when he called Meryl Streep “one of the most overrated actresses” after the 2018 show. The thing they have in common is rather predictable: they said something he didn’t like.

Who will attend the 2025 Oscars? List of celebrities

This year’s nominees expected at the gala include Adrien Brody, Timothée Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, Sebastian Stan, Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Fernanda Torres, Yura Borisov, Kieran Culkin, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, Monica Barbaro, Ariana Grande, Felicity Jones, Isabella Rossellini and Zoe Saldaña.

In addition, Doja Cat, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Queen Latifah and RAYE will perform during the ceremony. Last year’s acting winners — Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, Robert Downey Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph — will also return.

The night’s presenters will include Dave Bautista, Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Selena Gomez, Rachel Zegler, Joe Alwyn, Sterling K. Brown, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Connie Nielsen, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, Ben Stiller, Oprah Winfrey and Bowen Yang.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars and who’s hosting

The 2025 Oscars will air live on ABC and on television networks worldwide this Sunday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT, with the official red carpet pre-show kicking off at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.

This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Emmy-winning television host, writer, producer and comedian Conan O’Brien — marking the first time O’Brien has emceed the Oscars.
