Hong Kong government cancels passports of wanted activist Nathan Law, 5 other ‘absconders’
Hong Kong’s security minister has cancelled the passports of wanted activist Nathan Law Kwun-chung and five other “absconders” in an unprecedented move under new powers granted by the city’s domestic national security law.
The five other overseas-based activists who faced new restrictions imposed by Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung on Wednesday were unionist Mung Siu-tat, Finn Lau Cho-dik, Simon Cheng Man-kit, Fok Ka-chi and Choi Ming-da.
All six are currently based in Britain, with authorities saying they “blatantly engage in activities that endanger national security”.
“They also make scaremongering remarks to smear and slander the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. More so, they continue to collude with external forces to protect their evil deeds,” a government spokesman said.
“We therefore have taken such measures to give them a strong blow.”
