Deals: Moto Edge 60 Fusion and Pixel 9a arrive, iPhone 16  and 15 series are £100 off

This week saw several important announcements from the Android side of the mobile world and a surprise £100 discount on new iPhones.

Motorola unveiled the first of its next generation of Edge phones, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion. Sporting a quad-curved OLED display on the front (6.67”, 1220p+, LTPO 120Hz, 10-bit, GG 7i) and a vegan leather or textile-like back with Pantone colors this phone looks more stylish than its price tag may suggest.

Despite its quad-curved LTPO display, this is a mid-ranger with a Dimensity 7300 chipset and 5,200mAh battery (68W charging). It has expandable storage and stereo speakers, but no 3.5mm headphone jack. The cameras feature a 50MP main (1/1.56”, OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide on the back, plus a 32MP selfie camera (with 4K 30fps video recording available on the front and back).

Google announced that the Pixel 9a will be available in the UK from April 10. You can already pre-order a unit from retailers like Amazon. If you’re trading in an old phone, you will get a £150 bonus. Prime subscribers are getting a free case for the phone. We have a 9a in for review, so stay tuned for a detailed report.

Meanwhile, Samsung launched two Tab S FE tablets. Both are available today and come with a free AI Book Cover Keyboard Slim.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE is the same size as before with a 10.9” 90Hz IPS LCD. Well, it’s 0.5mm thinner and 26g lighter, so in some ways it is smaller. The Exynos 1580 chipset is also a big improvement over the 1380 in the Tab S9 FE with ARMv9 CPU cores and an AMD RDNA 3 based GPU. An S Pen is included in the retail package and there is a microSD slot for more storage. The battery is 8,000mAh with 45W charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is bigger than its predecessor with a 13.1” display, also a 90Hz IPS LCD. It’s 0.5mm thinner too, but the extra screen size makes it a bit heavier (+37g). The battery is the same at 10,090mAh with 45W charging, though. Both tablets are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

The old Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is mostly out of stock at the moment with only the 256GB variant available. Given the price and microSD slot of the Tab S10 FE, we’d go with the newer model.

It’s not so simple when looking at the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ – the new one is bigger and has the better chipset, but the old slate is £170 cheaper. And it has an ultra-wide camera on the back (which was removed from the new model), if that matters to you.

We don’t see this often, but all current iPhone models, save for the new 16e, are £100 off at Amazon.

This means that the vanilla iPhone 16 starts at £700 for a 128GB unit, while the iPhone 16 Plus is £100 more. We have detail comparisons to help you pick the right model: iPhone 16 vs. 15, iPhone 16 vs. 16 Plus and iPhone 16 vs. 16 Pro.

With the above comparisons in mind, here are the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which cost £100 less than the respective 16-series models (which is worth one storage upgrade).

Then there are the two Pro models, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Naturally, we have relevant comparison articles for those too: iPhone 16 Pro vs. 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro vs. 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max vs. 15 Pro Max. The two 15 Pro models are no longer available (aside from, maybe, leftover stock in some stores), but it’s a good reference for those looking to upgrade.

The Apple iPhone 16e is brand new, so no discounts for it. Here is how it compares to the iPhone 16.

Nintendo revealed specs for the long-awaited Switch 2 handheld console. It’s bigger than its predecessor with a 7.9” LCD – a 1080p HDR10 panel with 120Hz refresh rate and VRR – and features a new Nvidia chipset with DLSS and ray tracing support. While it’s mainly a portable console, the upgraded chip promises 4K @ 120fps gaming in docked mode.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available later this year, but you may want to reserve one early – Amazon UK has an invitation system with the note that this is a “high-demand item with limited quantities”.

We may get a commission from qualifying sales.
