‘App Lock’ Coming to Samsung’s Android 15 Update Alongside Secure Folder Feature

A leaker recently unveiled a new feature from Samsung called ‘App Lock,’ claiming it will join the next Android 15 update, also known as One UI 7 for South Korean tech. This means that this feature may arrive on the next major update for Samsung devices, alongside its touted ‘Secure Folder’ feature.

In this latest spot, App Lock will offer an experience that allows users to keep things private on a specific app, especially when that app does not offer the feature itself.

App Lock is Coming to Samsung Phones via Android 15 Update

A renowned leaker, Tarun Vats, shared a discovery on Samsung’s upcoming Android 15 update, centered on its One UI 7, which will deliver a new experience called ‘App Lock.’ Through this feature, users can put a passcode or biometric lock on a specific app and keep it away from being accessed by anyone who is borrowing the device or knows the lock screen passcode.

This feature was recently discovered via Samsung’s device settings under One UI 7, but the system version is not yet available.

However, other users claim that this is not exactly new for Samsung, as this feature is only coming back after different platformsApple and Google.

One UI 7’s Upcoming Security Features with Secure Folder

One UI 7’s App Lock is only one of the many security features coming for Samsung’s devices once Android 15 drops and the UI update arrives for users. The earlier announced ‘Secure Folder’ feature will provide a second space for users to stow their apps or files, which separates the experience, unlike App Lock, which is still on the main UI.

Android 15 Features from Google

Google began previewing the new features coming to Android 15 in the past few months,  focusing on significant privacy and security features available here. One of them was the much-anticipated Pixel-special feature known as Private Space, which would give users a separate place where all their activities are hidden away.

Another special Android 15 feature that is expected soon is the arrival of ‘Powered Off Finding’ under its Find My Device network, which would allow users to track their devices offline. This means that whenever the smartphone depletes the battery or is turned off by a bad actor, users may still be able to locate the device and retrieve it.

Google is still working on many features for Android 15, but in its recent I/O showcase, the company already revealed a lot of what to expect and look forward to for later this year’s OS release. That being said, new features are still popping up, including the App Lock, which will allow specific apps to be secure away from prying eyes and those who invade others’ privacy.
