Sophie Turner’s upcoming Tomb Raider series appears to be back on track after production was temporarily halted due to an injury sustained by the lead star. Filming had been paused for a short period while Turner recovered. However, recent reports suggest work has now resumed, with no expected impact on the overall production.
Sophie Turner’s Tomb Raider to reportedly resume filming after injury break
Filming on Tomb Raider has reportedly resumed following a temporary shutdown caused by an injury to lead actor Sophie Turner. According to a report by TMZ, production was paused for a couple of weeks after Turner was sidelined but has now restarted, with the interruption not expected to impact the overall schedule.
The actress had suffered an undisclosed injury, which reportedly did not occur while she was filming. Despite Turner performing several of her own stunts for the series, the publication reported the incident happened off set.
With the lead actor unavailable, production was halted entirely during her recovery period. However, the crew reportedly continued to be paid throughout the shutdown. Turner has since been seen back on set, hinting that filming is back underway.
Earlier, a spokesperson for Prime Video confirmed to the BBC that Turner had sustained a “minor injury,” adding that production had been paused as a precaution. The spokesperson noted that the break was intended to allow her time to recover. However, no specific timeline or details about the injury were revealed.
The series, based on the popular video game franchise, features Turner as Lara Croft, the adventurer and archaeologist at the center of the story. The cast also includes Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver. Filming has been taking place in the United Kingdom as well as other locations.
The project is being led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. With production now back in progress and no reported delays, the series is not expected to face any delay in its release.
