Daredevil: Born Again has taken a brutal turn with a major character death, but the story might not be over yet. One of the show’s key actors is now opening up about a possible return, even after the shocking events of the latest season.
Ayelet Zurer on if Vanessa could return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
Ayelet Zurer recently addressed the fate of Vanessa Fisk and whether fans could see her again in a future season. While the character’s death in Season 2 changes things for Wilson Fisk, Zurer made it clear that nothing is fully ruled out yet. “If I were a writer, I’d say yes,” she told Comic Book Movie, adding that it ultimately depends on where the story goes next.
In the show, Vanessa’s death is expected to deeply impact Fisk’s journey going forward. Even without her presence, her influence continues to shape events. Zurer hinted that the emotional fallout will carry into future episodes and possibly beyond, especially with other characters feeling the ripple effects of her actions.
The idea of a comeback is not far-fetched when you look at Marvel comics. Vanessa has returned in several ways over the years, including resurrection and alternate versions. That history keeps the door open creatively, even if the show has taken a darker and more grounded approach so far.
Zurer also spoke about filming one of her final scenes, calling it both intense and emotional. What started as an exciting sequence with action and stunts slowly turned heavy once the cast realized what was coming next. She described those final moments as “heartbreaking,” especially knowing it marked the end of Vanessa’s journey, at least for now. “But once we got to the part where she’s lying down, and he collapses beside her, knowing what was coming in the next episode, it became very emotional.” Zurer shared.
Despite her character’s exit, fans are still hoping for more. With only a few episodes left in the current season, the show continues to build toward a darker path, proving that even in death, some characters never fully leave the story.
