Indie App Spotlight: ‘Tasks’ adds 50+ app intents, refreshed interface in latest update

Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.

Tasks, a very popular productivity app for the Apple ecosystem – just got a massive new update with support for loads of App Intents, an all new interface, as well as automations to help you manage your tasks. We covered Tasks when it initially launched back in 2020, and this week’s new update is a major one.

At its core, Tasks is a to-do list app. It offers projects, subtasks, kanban boards, folders, reminders, and so much more to help you keep track of all the things you need to get done.

In its new 4.3 update, Tasks adds over 50 new app intents, allowing pretty much every feature in the app to integrate with Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight. Some examples of this are being able to show your grocery list when you get to a grocery store, automatically send a reminder to someone for overdue tasks, and getting an automated list of all of your daily tasks at the start of the day.

Tasks 4.3 also offers a new design language, with an improved sidebar, a new kanban view, better support for Liquid Glass, as well as other UX improvements to make the experience better. All of this helps Tasks work better for all users – whether you’re using it professionally, or just as a simple task tracker.

Download the app

Tasks is available for free on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. It offers a generous free tier, and for the Pro version, you can subscribe for $3.99/month, $24.99/year, or $79.99 for a lifetime purchase. You’ll need a device running iOS 16.6 or later.
