①Multiple factors are driving the rise of Hong Kong-listed energy storage stocks. Which individual stocks are leading in gains? ②Institutions predict that installation growth could reach a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 50% within three years. Which sectors will emerge as new growth drivers?
Cailian Press, March 11 (Editor Feng Yi) Driven by explosive overseas demand and favorable policies, Hong Kong-listed energy storage stocks have seen consecutive short-term gains.
As of press time today, CALB (03931.HK) surged over 8%, CATL (03750.HK) rose approximately 7%, and other stocks like Ruipu Lan Jun (0066.HK) also gained more than 2%.
In the short term, the energy storage industry has recently been driven by a ‘triple boost’ of safety-driven demand, overseas order surges, and policy incentives.
At the policy level, ‘new energy storage’ has been included in government work reports for three consecutive years and is defined as an ’emerging pillar industry.’ Nine provinces across the country have implemented independent energy storage capacity pricing policies, providing stable revenue expectations for the industry.
Dongwu Securities released a research report stating that data center energy storage in the United States continues to advance, while large-scale storage projects in Europe and the Middle East show strong demand. It is expected that household energy storage will enter a new growth cycle, with global energy storage installations potentially growing by over 60% by 2026, and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30%-50% from 2027 to 2029.
Additionally, data shows that in the first two months of 2026, domestic large-scale energy storage accumulated tender/award capacities reached 54.9/53.1GWh, representing year-on-year increases of 55% and 281%, respectively.
Overall, with synchronized surges in overseas household energy storage and domestic large-scale storage demand, domestic supply chains are also poised for high growth.
It is worth noting that recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have caused significant fluctuations in oil and natural gas prices, highlighting new energy storage demands in scenarios focused on energy security.
Founder Securities believes that as the EU pushes to phase out Russian natural gas imports and increase reliance on Middle Eastern LNG, this will inevitably drive sales of household energy storage and heat pump products in Europe.
