Elon Musk has his mom helping fight his battles for him.
Maye Musk, the mother of the South African billionaire, took to Twitter (now X) in defence of her son, who has owned the social media platform since 2022. Maye, a former model, is now a dietitian, with Canadian, South African, and American citizenship. She was married to Elon’s father, businessman Errol Musk, from 1970 to 1979.

Maye defended her son on his own app, against criticism in “mainstream media.”
“I’ve been reading the dishonesty and extreme negativity in the mainstream media for 20 years,” Maye wrote on X on Thursday, February 19. “It is really hard to cope with hateful headlines when Elon is doing amazing things worldwide.”
“I’ve just finished writing another book, and include how I shamed the news outlets and the journalists on Twitter five years ago,” she continued. “They didn’t care. Every day, I’m happy that Elon bought Twitter and renamed it X.”
In 1996, Maye released her first book titled Feel Fantastic – Maye Musk’s Good Health Clinic. The self-help guide marked Maye’s transition from modelling to fitness guru. In 2019, she released a memoir, named A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success. Additionally, Maye has a new upcoming book, as mentioned in her tweet. The project is slated for release in September 2026, but no title has been confirmed.
Elon is very close with his mother, who has appeared with him at numerous red carpet events, as well as his guest spot hosting Saturday Night Live. On the other hand, the Tesla owner has been estranged from his father, Errol, for many years. The fellow business mogul has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children, according to the New York Times. Elon has never denied his father’s abuse allegations, but has referred to him as “evil” and a “terrible human being” previously.
