According to Deadline, Colman Domingo is the latest addition to An Innocent Girl, a new psychological thriller in development at Netflix. The film brings together an ensemble that includes Kerry Washington, James Marsden, and Chloe East, with Jaume Collet-Serra set to direct.
Set in Washington, D.C., the story follows a driven young woman who becomes involved with an influential couple. However, she gradually finds herself pulled into a world shaped by sex, influence, and murder. East will portray the young woman at the center of the story. James Marsden has also joined the cast in a leading role.
The screenplay was written by Michael Mohan and Marc Guggenheim, with revisions by Carly Wray. Production duties are being handled by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter under their Berlanti Schechter Films banner. Washington is also serving as an executive producer alongside Guggenheim, Mike McGrath, and Scott Greenberg.
For Washington, the film marks a return to political dramas more than a decade after her first Emmy nomination for Scandal. Netflix has stated that production on An Innocent Girl is set to begin soon, though a release date has not yet been announced.
