Meta 徹底放棄「元宇宙辦公」願景!Horizon Workrooms 下月停止營運,企業級 VR 業務全面喊停

祖克伯(Mark Zuckerberg)的元宇宙大夢真的要轉彎了。Meta 近期再度大幅調整其元宇宙策略,這次直接砍掉曾寄予厚望的虛擬辦公領域。根據最新確認的消息,Meta 將正式停止營運旗下的 VR 協作平台 Horizon Workrooms,同時也終止向企業客戶販售相關的 Quest 商業服務,這象徵著過去描繪「戴著眼鏡去上班」的願景已宣告失敗。

根據內部公告,Meta 的「元宇宙辦公」業務將於下個月正式劃下句點,具體時程如下:

  • 首先,Meta 旗下的 VR 協作應用程式 Horizon Workrooms 將於 2026 年 2 月 16 日正式停止服務。這款應用程式曾是 Meta 展示未來辦公型態的核心產品,允許使用者以虛擬替身(Avatar)的形象,在虛擬會議室中開會協作。然而,儘管 Meta 曾大力推廣,該產品的使用者留存率始終低迷,未能成為企業主流。
  • 其次,針對企業市場的硬體與服務也將同步縮減。自 2 月 20 日起,Meta 將不再向企業客戶販售 Quest 眼鏡的商業版本(Commercial SKUs)以及相關的企業管理服務(Quest for Business)。這意味著 Meta 不再嘗試將 VR 裝置包裝成生產力工具推銷給公司行號,而是讓 Quest 系列重新回歸其最擅長的遊戲與娛樂市場。

這一系列決策並非偶然,而是 Meta 負責元宇宙業務的 Reality Labs 部門近期大重組的一環。就在本週,Meta 才剛宣布對 Reality Labs 進行約 10% 的裁員(影響約 1,000 人),並關閉了包括 Sanzaru Games 在內的三家第一方 VR 遊戲工作室。甚至連受歡迎的 VR 健身應用程式《Supernatural》也傳出將停止後續開發。

產業分析師指出,Meta 這一連串動作顯示公司正從耗資巨大的「全沉浸式元宇宙」困境中抽離。Reality Labs 自 2021 年以來已累積虧損超過 700 億美元,現在 Meta 決定將策略重心與資源,全面轉向目前更熱門且具備成功潛力的 AI 智慧眼鏡(如 Ray-Ban Meta 系列)以及行動端 AI 工具。

對於已經投注 Meta 辦公生態系的企業來說,這次衝擊不小。Meta 早前已宣布其企業社群軟體 Workplace 將於 2026 年 6 月徹底關閉,現在連 VR 辦公的核心平台也迅速「被下架」,直接宣告了 Meta 退出企業級元宇宙市場的決心。

隨著 Horizon Workrooms 熄燈,那個「戴著笨重 VR 眼鏡,在虛擬世界裡面對面開會」的未來,似乎已不再是 Meta 追逐的明天了。
