Lake Como, Italy

Known by the local population as Lago di Como, Lake Como is the third largest lake in Italy. Located at the foot of the Alps, it is a beautiful and peaceful part of the country. There are a number of charming small villages and towns boarding the lake and plenty of lovely nature walks and premium shopping outlets to enjoy. 

Como is the main city in this region of Italy, it has large mediaeval walls enclosing its squares and alleys and is home to traditional markets, restaurants and places of worship, such as the Como Cathedral.  

An hour or so away is the bustling town of Bellagio, where nature lovers can explore the botanical Gardens of Villa Melzi with exotic trees, plants and artistic installations.

Actor George Clooney and his family own property in the region, while Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Mick Jagger have all holidayed here in recent years. 

Seminyak, Bali

Over in Indonesia, Seminyak is a luxury beach resort area at the southern end of Bali. Here there is an eclectic mix of high-end spas, fine dining restaurants and designer boutique shopping outlets. The atmosphere here is more laidback and sophisticated compared to nearby Kuta.  

For those wishing to witness the beautiful Bali sunsets, Seminyak Beach and Petitenget Beach both offer the best views. For those that enjoy watersports, Seminyak Beach is ideal for surfing and other water-based activities. Bali is a popular choice for honeymooners, with its tropical climate and white sandy beaches guaranteeing the right conditions for a relaxing break.  

There are plenty of cultural landmarks worth exploring in this region, including the towering Petitenget Temple. Also, for a unique way to enjoy the scenery, visitors can participate in a horseback ride to Canggu from Seminyak.  

Bali has had its fair share of VIP visitors over the years, including Paris Hilton and the Kardashians.  

Mykonos, Greece

The Greek island of Mykonos is another hotspot for luxury holidays. Everywhere you look on Mykonos, you will see luxury yachts, outstanding villas and award-winning restaurants. Travellers flock here for its legendary parties and exceptional sandy beaches. 

The island was quickly developed once high-profile individuals began to draw attention to Mykonos as a VIP holiday destination from the 1950s onwards. Everyone from Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks to Jean-Paul Gaultier and Giorgio Armani has been on a relaxing break here.

For those looking to explore further afield, a boat trip to the nearby island of Dalos will provide excellent views of its emerald waters and the statues and spaces created by the Greco-Roman settlements.
