He said the car came to a stop after slamming into the surrounding wall of the house. No tenants were in the house at the time.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene after a woman villager reported the incident to police.
The spokesman said the wall measuring three metres by six metres was damaged in the incident.
The driver, who passed a breathalyser test, was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.
“A preliminary investigation suggested that the driver forgot to pull the handbrake when he left the vehicle,” the spokesman said.
Separately, a 65-year-old cabby escaped unscathed when his taxi crashed into a flower bed and slammed into a tree near Choi Hung Estate on Prince Edward Road East at around 6.49am.
The spokesman said the taxi driver claimed he lost control of his vehicle when he saw a black shadow and veered to the left.
Officers from the Kowloon East traffic unit are following up on the case.
Latest police figures show the number of people killed or seriously injured in traffic accidents across the city dropped by 39.4 per cent to 478 in the first seven months of this year from 790 in the same period in 2023.
