Alexander Sorloth could play alongside Christian Pulisic as AC Milan reportedly target the Norwegian striker

Following significant scoring challenges during the 2025-26 season, AC Milan are looking to bolster their attack. With this move, the future of Rafael Leão, Christopher Nkunku, and Santiago Giménez is up in the air, as they reportedly failed to convince. Consequently, the Rossoneri reportedly aim to fortify their forward line, prioritizing Alexander Sorloth as a potential signing to play alongside Christian Pulisic and boost the offensive impact.

According to Andrea Ramazzotti, via La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are aiming to strengthen their squad with a top-level striker if they secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League. In this context, Alexander Sorloth of Atlético Madrid has emerged as a major priority, as his profile fits perfectly with the needs of head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Moreover, he could be transferred for €40M or even less.

While the Norwegian is not an undisputed starter for Los Colchoneros, he has remained one of the team’s top scorers. In the 2024–25 season, he scored 24 goals in 53 appearances, and this season he has already netted 17 goals, with several matches still to play. In addition, he maintains a strong physical presence, which could suit Serie A well, allowing him to win duels against defenders and capitalize on his powerful striking ability.

At 30 years old, Sorloth would not be a long-term signing, but rather one with immediate impact. Far from being an issue, the Rossoneri could benefit greatly, as he could make an instant difference while serving as an ideal complement to Christian Pulisic. With the Norwegian leading the line, the USMNT star would have a reliable partner for through balls and link-up play, as Alexander is accustomed to operating in a two-striker setup.

Unlike the partnership with Rafael Leao, Pulisic could bring out his best version alongside Alexander Sorloth. As the Norwegian is not a highly mobile forward, he would not clash with the USMNT star, but instead serve as an ideal partner for delivering key passes and combining in tight spaces inside the box. This would ease the scoring burden on Christian, allowing him to focus on his strongest attribute—his creativity.

AC Milan may face hurdles offloading Nkunku and Gimenez

With the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri, AC Milan have established as one of the top teams in Serie A. However, they have struggled to shine offensively, as Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez have failed to secure starting roles and have delivered rather disappointing performances. As a result, the Rossoneri could face difficulties selling them in the summer of 2026.

After paying €30M to Feyenoord, Santiago Gimenez arrived to be the Rossoneri’s starting striker. However, he has only made 33 appearances, scoring just seven goals, leaving fans disappointed. In addition, head coach Allegri reportedly does not count on the Mexican, meaning he would be put up for transfer. Nevertheless, his recurring injuries and underwhelming performances could make it difficult for the club to recoup the fee they paid for him.

Christopher Nkunku hasn’t managed to shine at AC Milan either. After paying Chelsea €37M, the Frenchman emerged as the team’s great hope on offense. While he managed to score 6 goals in 30 games, he failed to secure a starting spot, falling well short of expectations. As a result, the 28-year-old star has attracted little interest from other teams, leaving the Rossoneri struggling to sell him in the summer of 2026.
