Can Trade Desk Stock Bounce Off Its Old Support Again?

Investors holding Trade Desk (TTD) have seen the stock lose 74.1% of its value over the past year, compared with a 17.9% return for the S&P 500. The immediate question is how much further shares might drop. One certainty is the current level: at $13.13 on October 15, the stock sits above the prices where it turned and rallied three times in 2018. How did the stock fare at this price then, and how has it fared in 2026?

How Trade Desk Stock Has Fared At This Price

In the past, shares climbed significantly from these levels. Rallies started between $11.61 and $12.57 in August, October and December 2018. All three advanced to the same high of $27.86 in July 2019, delivering a gain of 139.6% for the typical run.

More recent tests of this price played out differently. Over the two years ending October 15, 2026, the stock returned to this level twice, hitting it on August 10 and September 22, 2026. Both times, it fell 5% before it rose 20%. Following the second instance, shares closed at $11.92 on October 6. They then recovered to the current price with a 7.8% rise on October 15. The bounces that define this price support are eight years old.

What You Could Make If Trade Desk Reaches Resistance

Resistance sits at $19.56, marking the price where a rally stalled once in the past two years. If the stock reached that level, $10,000 invested today would be worth about $14,900. By comparison, the typical 2018 bounce would have turned that same sum into about $23,960. A climb to current resistance represents a smaller move than those earlier rallies. On the way up, the stock would need to pass $15.09, another price where a prior rally stalled once.

Trade Desk Still Makes Money, But Sales Have Slowed

Revenue grew 3% in the June quarter, compared with 18.7% during the same period a year earlier. During the August 6 call, management noted that growth fell below its own expectations. The company remained profitable, but it operated on a thinner margin. The operating margin for the quarter was 14.2%, down from 16.8% a year earlier.

Investors are currently paying little for those profits. Shares trade at 15.1 times the last twelve months of earnings, compared with 22.7 for the S&P 500. During the same call, management indicated that most of the top 100 accounts were still growing by double digits from a year earlier. They also noted that Audience Unlimited, a product moving to open beta, was showing very encouraging results.

The immediate risk is a contraction in sales, a scenario already reflected in management’s own guidance. Economic conditions have made it harder for some of the world’s largest brands to grow, management said. Advertisers in the consumer packaged goods and auto sectors, set back by tariffs and oil prices, make up around 25% of the business. For the September quarter, the company guided revenue of at least $650 million, compared with $739 million in the same quarter a year earlier, assuming no meaningful improvement in the environment. If the stock breaks down again, as it did after both recent visits, the next support level sits 9.2% below today’s price at the October 6 close. That marks its lowest close in two years.

When Trade Desk reports earnings, expected on or around November 5, 2026, the key metric to watch will be revenue for the September quarter weighed against that guidance.

Micron (NASDAQ: MU) has been a great stock to own in 2026, but I’m betting that it goes even higher by 2030. In fact, it could transform a $10,000 investment made today into a $42,000 position by then — and that’s on the conservative side of my estimated range. That may seem unrealistic, but the
