The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is coming to an end very soon, but it is not going out quietly.
Before the show goes off the air, Stephen Colbert has seemingly started a ritual of locking lips with guests. This began with fellow late-night hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers, but has now extended to actors like Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Pedro Pascal.
Stephen Colbert locks lips with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
With his show nearing its conclusion after 11 seasons, it appears that guests are eager to join Colbert’s ongoing kissing bit, which began during the appearance of fellow hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers.
The moment started during a game segment in which the hosts were asked, “Have you guys ever made out with a guest on camera?” Colbert specifically looked at Fallon, who appeared confused by the implication. When asked about it, Colbert said, “‘Cause I think you’ve made out with guests on camera.” Fallon replied, “No, I think you just want to make out with me,” before pulling Colbert in for a kiss.
Stephen Colbert later revealed that he had previously shared on-camera kisses with Sally Field, Helen Mirren, Allison Janney, Jeff Daniels, and Andrew Garfield.
Following that segment, Julia Louis-Dreyfus appeared on Tuesday’s episode and asked Colbert to replay clips from the previous night. She then hinted that she wanted to join the growing list of guests Colbert had kissed. “No one’s watching. It’s just between us,” Louis-Dreyfus said. “What harm is there?” Colbert replied.
The two then leaned in for a kiss, drawing loud applause from the live audience.
Colbert also kisses Pedro Pascal
Colbert also shared a kiss with Pedro Pascal later in the episode. The Last of Us actor signaled that he also wanted to join Colbert’s kissing trend.
“I got jealous,” the Fantastic Four star said, to which Colbert responded, “No need! Anytime. These lips will soon be free.”
Their kiss also drew loud applause from the audience.
