Spider-Man 4 Director Teases ‘Incredibly Relatable’ MCU Movie

Spider-Man 4 director Destin Daniel Cretton has shared some new comments about the forthcoming MCU movie.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be released in United States theaters this July. Directed by Cretton, who previously made Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the movie will once again see Tom Holland reprise his MCU role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

What did Destin Daniel Cretton say about Spider-Man 4?

Speaking with WHO LET US OUT, Cretton shared some new details about Spider-Man 4. While he acknowledged there was plenty about the movie he couldn’t yet talk about, he also noted that he finds the era of Peter Parker’s life that Brand New Day will be exploring to be “incredibly relatable.”

“What I can share is that the movie does kind of pick up where the previous movie left off emotionally,” he said. “We are exploring a time in Peter Parker’s life that I find incredibly relatable. Where he is learning to step into a new phase in life. That’s about all I can say at this moment, but you’ll all learn more, I’m sure, very soon.”

Official plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day remain under wraps at this time.

In addition to Holland, the cast of the movie includes Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone. Additionally, Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas, and Severance’s Tramell Tillman have all been cast in undisclosed roles, though there’s been no shortage of online rumors and speculation regarding who they may be playing.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31, 2026.
