bill gates superyacht: Breakthrough: Bill Gates to sell $645 million superyacht, claims report. See if he has ever boarded it, what makes it special and who may be the new owner

Bill Gates is reportedly preparing to sell a hydrogen-powered superyacht worth $645 million. Despite owning the vessel, Gates has never boarded it. The ship, known as ‘Breakthrough,’ may soon be sold to Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi, a report said.

Hydrogen-Powered Vessel

The 390-foot vessel was built by Feadship, a Dutch shipbuilding company. Construction started in 2021, and it launched three years later. The yacht runs on liquid hydrogen stored in two vacuum-sealed tanks, each weighing 28 tons. The only emission is water. The ship was named ‘Breakthrough’ and is also known as Project 821.

Sale Without Use

Though the ship includes many high-end features, Gates has never stepped on board. Reports suggest he is ready to sell it. Gates has not confirmed he owns it, but sources claim it belongs to him, as per Luxury Launches. Gates, the world’s 13th richest person, is reportedly moving forward with the deal, the report said.

He later founded Green For Life Environmental Inc. in 2007. The company is valued at $18.62 billion. Dovigi has an estimated net worth of $1 billion.Dovigi already owns a large superyacht. In 2023, he bought AHPO, a 377-foot vessel with six decks, from billionaire Michael Lee-Chin. The yacht includes an IMAX theater, plunge pool, sauna and two-story Owner’s apartment. AHPO was listed for $370 million after less than two years in Dovigi’s possession.

Breakthrough Deal

Breakthrough was listed for sale in May 2024. The asking price was over $600 million, the outlet said. If the deal goes through, it marks another major business move by Gates.
