WWE have confirmed plans to host its first-ever major Premium Live Event in France.

The event is scheduled to take place at the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Decines on May 3rd 2024 and will mark the first time that SmackDown will broadcast from France.

The announcement of WWE Backlash France comes shortly after the company confirmed events in Berlin, Germany and Perth, Australia.

Backlash 2023, held earlier this year at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, became WWE’s highest-grossing and most-viewed Backlash in company history.

The LDLC Arena has a capacity of 16,000 for concerts and 12,000 for sporting events, meaning there’ll be plenty of space in the arena for fans across Europe.

The news comes shortly after WWE confirmed plans to host its first-ever major Premium Live Event in Germany.

The Bash in Berlin is scheduled to take place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on August 31, 2024 and it follows a successful 12 months in Europe.

The announcements of these events follows the big year of international live events, which include Elimination Chamber from Montreal, Backlash from Puerto Rico and Night of Champions from Jeddah.

Another major international event saw the WWE return to UK shores with Money in the Bank at the O2 Arena this summer.

The promotion also held its first UK stadium show in 30 years when Clash At The Castle came to Cardiff last year.

Due to the popularity of the last two major events outside of north America, the WWE have decided to add another two premium live events in Europe.

As well as the upcoming European events, the WWE also confirmed that they would be returning to Australia for the first time in six years in 2024.

Perth‘s Optus Stadium will play host to Elimination Chamber on February 24 next year, and, with a capacity of 65,000 people, a large crowd is anticipated for the event.

While it’s unclear what specific stars will be heading to the country to the event, it will likely be headlined by Rhea Ripley, who was born in Adelaide.

Ripley debuted as a main member of the main roster in WWE in 2021 and has risen to fame ever since, enjoying individual and tag team title reigns and remaining a member of the villainous faction The Judgement Day.

Also likely to be on the show is Waller, who is from Sydney and was called up to the main roster earlier this year.

Other Australian stars in the company include Bronson Reed and Indi Hartwell.
