Mark Hamill’s latest social media post about Donald Trump struck a nerve far beyond his usual audience. The White House fired back, reigniting a familiar feud between the Star Wars actor and the current administration.
Mark Hamill criticized by the White House over a deleted post on Donald Trump
The White House slammed Star Wars actor Mark Hamill after he shared a now-deleted post on Bluesky depicting President Donald Trump in a grave. The White House Rapid Response 47 account responded on X, calling Hamill “one sick individual.” The account linked his rhetoric to past assassination attempts against the president.
Hamill posted the image on May 6, 2026, showing Trump lying in dirt beside a headstone reading “1946-2024” with the caption “If Only.” He wrote that Trump “should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms.” He added Trump should “be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes.”
The White House Rapid Response 47 account posted on X, calling Hamill “one sick individual.” The account wrote, “These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves.” It added, “This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”

Hamill responded on Bluesky on May 8 with what he called an “Accurate Edit for Clarity.” He wrote, “Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate.” He also reposted his original full-length comments alongside a new humorous photo of the president.
Hamill has long criticized Trump publicly and previously revealed he nearly left the United States after Trump won reelection in 2024. His wife, Marilou Hamill, convinced him to stay. Hamill told The Times his wife said she was “surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.”
