A couple of clubs trying to get up to the top half of the English Premier League meet up on Sunday, as Sunderland plays host to Fulham.
Both teams have had moments this season where they have shown they could be a contender to finish in a European spot. Yet, struggles for long stretches of the season have kept them near the mushy middle of the league.
Sunderland had a rather stunning start to the season, as the team managed to hang near a UEFA Champions League spot for a couple of months. However, the Black Cats came down to Earth over the last little while. The team lost back-to-back matches, falling to both Arsenal and Liverpool, and has dropped three of their past four, including an embarrassing loss to lowly West Ham last month.
Fulham has also been on a bit of a slide. The club has lost three straight league matches, falling to both Manchester City and Manchester United, and lost three of its past four. The Cottager have gone winless in four straight road matches.
Sunderland sits 11th in the table, with Fulham two points behind them in 12th.
This is the second and final meeting this season between the two clubs. Fulham scored a 1-0 win over Sunderland at Craven Cottage back in November.
