Tyson Fury has insisted his fight against Francis Ngannou was a success despite many slamming the Gypsy King’s supposed underwhelming performance.

Ngannou’s fight with Fury has been the talk of the boxing world after the former MMA star took the Gypsy King all the way in Riyadh at the end of last month.

It was the first time Ngannou had stepped into the boxing ring yet he showed no signs of being a novice, before Fury was handed a split decision win by 94-95, 95-94, 96-93.

However, Fury’s victory in the crossover bout has been disputed by many since, but the 35-year-old refused to listen to his critics.

‘It went really well,’ he exclusively told Mail Sport’s Charlotte Daly.

‘I got paid, got laid and got out of there and now I’m on to my next one.’

That ‘next one’ Fury refers to is his proposed undisputed world heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk and Fury had agreed terms to fight on December 23 in Riyadh, with the Gypsy King claiming he would sue the Ukrainian if their bout was held up further.

However, after his close contest with Ngannou, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren confirmed the clash with Usyk would instead take place early next year, with February the mooted date.

Further details for that fight are set to be announced imminently, but last week,  Usyk‘s promoter Alex Krassyuk hit out at Fury for the delay.

‘In terms of that fight with Tyson Fury,’ he told Mail Sport’s Boxing podcast, The Hook.

‘Listen, we friendly with hearts full of love called Tyson Fury a random-thought generator.

‘So that was one of his random thoughts before the fight and probably the other one after the fight. You cannot match it.’
