Trip.com turns Hong Kong MTR ads into an art gallery

Trip.com turns Hong Kong MTR ads into a playful art gallery, using classical sculptures to spotlight travel planning frustrations and booking services.

Trip.com turns Hong Kong MTR walls into a tongue-in-cheek art gallery

A classical sculpture is not the first thing commuters expect to see selling a holiday. Trip.com is betting that a museum-like visual joke can make the everyday worries of planning a trip feel instantly familiar.

As Marketing-Interactive reports, the Hong Kong campaign uses classical art references to bring everyday travel frustrations into busy MTR spaces, while promoting Trip.com’s booking and customer-support services.

Short on time?

Trip.com’s “Worry-free wanderlust” campaign has turned advertising spaces at Hong Kong and Central MTR stations into an art-gallery-inspired showcase. The out-of-home work borrows the visual language of classical sculptures, then uses humor to connect those grand images with the smaller stresses of booking a holiday.

Instead of treating travel as a flawless postcard moment, the creative acknowledges the doubts people have before leaving: whether a hotel is right, whether the price is clear, and whether the pieces of an itinerary will fit together.

The campaign is scheduled to run through late November, according to Marketing-Interactive’s coverage.

How the art connects to Trip.com’s services

The displays are designed to point beyond the joke to practical features: curated premium hotels, transparent pricing, verified guest reviews and flight-plus-hotel booking options.

That creates a useful contrast. A marble-statue aesthetic suggests permanence and high culture, while the copy deals with contemporary booking decisions. The visual mismatch is what gives commuters a reason to look twice.

Trip.com is also using a dedicated campaign landing page to promote travel deals, destination discounts and booking rewards. The reported plan includes a forthcoming digital video series called “CEO Sleepover,” although its results have not been reported.

Why Hong Kong’s transit network fits the idea

The choice of MTR stations puts the campaign in a setting where people are already moving between work, errands and the possibility of getting away. A gallery-inspired installation also invites a different kind of attention than a standard destination photo.

This is not Trip.com’s first attempt to connect Hong Kong work routines with travel. Its 2025 WorkFlyBalance out-of-home campaign likewise spoke to office professionals who wanted a break from the usual schedule.

The new creative takes a more playful route. It presents travel planning as something that can feel absurdly complicated, then positions Trip.com’s services as a way to reduce the friction.

What marketers can learn from the creative

The campaign’s most distinctive choice is to sell reassurance through humor rather than a checklist of benefits. Its classical-art framing gives functional messages a recognizable visual system across multiple placements.

For travel brands, that matters because promises of convenience can sound interchangeable. A creative concept that people understand at a glance may help make those promises easier to remember.

Still, the available reporting does not provide reach, booking conversion or sentiment results. The evidence supports an inventive campaign design, not a claim that it has already improved performance.
