Scarlett Johansson is one of the most famous actors on the planet, but when it comes to photos, Johansson has a strict rule about not doing snapping pictures with fans, even if it might offend some.
Why doesn’t Scarlett Johansson take photos with fans?
Speaking to InStyle as part of a new profile on the actress, Johansson noted that she’s long held a policy about not taking photos with fans when she’s not at an official event. According to Johansson, it has nothing to do with not being appreciative of fans, but is simply about a clear separation between working and not working.
“It really offends a lot of people. It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me. But I always say to people, ‘I’m not working.’ [And that means] I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing. I like to be in my own thoughts that have nothing to do with what other people think of me. I don’t like being self-conscious.”
Johansson’s policy is not exactly new, but has made the rounds on social media after her latest comments explaining it in more detail. While she doesn’t take pictures while she’s out and about, Johansson does take photos with fans while at events like premieres or other appearances, when she considers herself to be working.
Next up for Johansson will be a role in 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth, which is set to release on July 2, 2025, with co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali.
