Wendy Williams recently called into The Breakfast Club to discuss her health and the ongoing battle over her guardianship. The former talk show host, who has been under court-appointed guardianship since 2023 due to cognitive health issues, denied claims that she is incapacitated. She spoke about her frustration with her living situation, stating that she feels trapped in an assisted living facility.
Williams said, “I told them I am not incapacitated. You know, as I’ve been accused. The floor that I live on is the memory unit — the people who live there don’t remember anything, unlike me. Like, why am I here? What is going on? It’s a cry for help.”
Healthcare advocate Ginalisa Monterroso, who joined Williams on the call, revealed that she had contacted authorities to raise concerns about Wendy Williams’ health. She explained that the NYPD was called to check on Williams after claims that she was being “isolated.” When officers arrived, Monterroso requested an independent medical evaluation, which the facility initially resisted. However, an ambulance was eventually called and Williams was taken to the hospital.
Monterroso said, “The doctor saw there was a difference between the guardian’s opinion and her lawyer’s opinion, and had to go to his legal department from the hospital to clear it.” She stated that Williams completed a cognitive test without issues, answering all questions correctly. Despite this, her guardianship remains unchanged and decisions about her future are still pending. Meanwhile, both the NYPD and Adult Protective Services are looking into her case.
