Veteran musicians Andrew Ling, on violin, and Richard Bamping, on cello, together with two young musicians, will perform four classical pieces dating from 1930 or later at City Hall on October 2.
The younger musicians are Dora Tsang, on piano, and Wun Wai-ki, on clarinet.
The quartet will perform Jagged Edge by local film composer Elliot Leung, as well as Khachaturian’s trio for clarinet, violin and piano, Bartók’s Contrasts for clarinet, violin and piano, and Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.
Besides being the principal violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil), Hong Kong native Andrew Ling has appeared with the orchestra, and with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the China Film Symphony Orchestra, as a concert soloist.
Richard Bamping has been the HK Phil’s principal cellist since 1993. He has performed with many of the finest musicians of recent history, including Carlo Maria Giulini, Leonard Bernstein and Sir Colin Davis.
Presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, The Contemporary Classics concert will be held at 8pm on October 2 at City Hall Theatre. Tickets are now available at URBTIX.
