Vice President Sara Duterte intends to use personal money to bankroll her trip to Hong Kong this week.

The Office of the Vice President announced Duterte’s visit to Hong Kong from November 6 to 8 without using any government funds. Her itinerary includes attending a gathering of the Filipino community.

“The Office of the Vice President respectfully informs the public that Vice President Sara Duterte will travel to Hong Kong from November 6 to 8, 2026, to attend engagements and participate in various activities, including an event organized by the Filipino Community (FilCom),” the office said in statement on Friday.

The office also clarified that Duterte has secured the necessary go-signal for her overseas trip, with the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, Branch 98, granting permission through a November 3 order. The Office of the President also issued the corresponding travel authority.

On travel expenses, the OVP assured that it would be strictly Duterte’s personal money.

“The Vice President shall cover the cost of her travel using personal funds. No government money, resources, or facilities shall be used in connection with her travel,” it said.—Politiko.com.ph
