Today, to end Konami’s Press Start showcase, the company teased a new Silent Hill remake. Details are sparse, but it was revealed that it is currently in development and that Bloober Team, the makers of last year’s acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake, will develop the long-rumored project.
What is known about the Silent Hill remake?
The Silent Hill remake tease is nothing more than a screen that says “Silent Hill In Development” with Konami and Bloober Team at the top of the card. However, the song that plays during this moment is the title track from the original 1999 release, which should excite fans of the PS1 classic.
A Silent Hill 1 remake by Bloober Team has been rumored for a while now, especially after the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake. Back in February, the developer announced it would continue to collaborate with Konami on previously unannounced games. It seems one of those is this upcoming remake.
“Our collaboration with KONAMI has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of SILENT HILL 2 speaks for itself,” reads the previous statement made by Bloober Team. “By sharing knowledge and experience, we have been able to create high-quality production together. Of course, we can’t reveal too many details at this time, but we are confident that fans will be just as excited about our collaboration as we are. We can’t wait to share something truly special with players when the time is right.”
While it’s exciting that Silent Hill 1 is getting a remake, fans of the series have a game to look forward to in the immediate future with Silent Hill f. During the Press Start showcase, a new developer diary was shown featuring appearances from producer Motoi Okamoto, scriptwriter Ryukishi07, and members of NeoBards Entertainment.
In terms of other news coming from the Konami Press Start showcase, arguably one of the most exciting announcement was the reveal of a new Suikoden game, Suikoden Star Leap. However, it is only available for PC via Steam and mobile devices. A look at the previously teased online multiplayer Fox Hunt mode in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was shown. A demo for the game Edens Zero, based on the anime, is available to play today. Anyone interested in viewing the entire showcase can check out the video above.
