It’s a wider political field than ever before, with a currently dominant Labour council that has run Southwark since 2010 set to be seriously challenged by the Lib Dems and Green Party.
But who are the actual candidates standing in your local area?
If you want to know that, you can use Southwark News’ handy interactive Local Election map – just scroll over your local neighbourhood and it’ll tell you every candidate standing in the ward, what political party they are, and who’s currently in control of the ward.
And if you have not yet registered to vote find out more here .
Polls are open from 7am to 10pm on May 7 as long as you bring a valid form of ID, and you can call 020 7525 7373 if you need to find out where your nearest polling station is.
