The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to Jason Statham‘s incredibly successful 2024 R-rated action film, has secured an early release date abroad. At the time of its premiere, the latter debuted at the top of the box office and remained in the top 10 for the first eight weeks. It also experienced considerable success in digital sales.
The first installment followed a retired government assassin. After his kind-hearted landlady fell victim to a phishing scam and killed herself, he went on a revenge quest seeking those responsible.
The Beekeeper 2 gets early release date in Germany
Jason Statham’s The Beekeeper 2 will premiere in Germany on January 14, 2027. This is one day before its January 15 theatrical release in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Munich-based Leonine Studios has reportedly acquired the film’s distribution rights for German-speaking Europe. However, the rights exclude the Pay 1-window deal retained by Prime Video (via Variety).
Meanwhile, the film’s distribution in international territories such as MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Asia will be handled by Black Bear Pictures (via Deadline). Amazon MGM Studios, which distributed the previous film in the United States, will once again handle distribution in the United States for the sequel, which it co-produced with Miramax.
Timo Tjahjanto, who previously helmed Nobody 2, directed the film from Umair Aleem’s script. Meanwhile, Jason Statham co-produced it with Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the original screenplay, and Chris Long.
Statham will reprise his role of Adam Clay, an incredibly skilled assassin known as The Beekeeper. Joining him from the previous film are Emmy Raver-Lampman as Verona Parker, Bobby Naderi as Matt Wiley, Jemma Redgrave as Jessica Danforth, and Jeremy Irons as Wallace Westfyld. New cast members include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland.
Filming commenced in September 2025, according to Tjahjanto’s Instagram post. It took place over three months, wrapping up in November 2025.
The first film grossed $162.6 million globally against an estimated $40 million budget. It also garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film boasts a fresh 71% critical score and a “verified hot” 92% audience score. However, Metacritic displays a “mixed or average” reception, as evidenced by the 53 Metascore and 6.0 user score.
