Vertical’s recently released horror drama starring Daisy Ridley has finally found a new streaming home. Beginning today, 2026’s latest zombie movie, We Bury the Dead, is now finally available to stream on Hulu.
What do we know about Daisy Ridley’s We Bury the Dead movie?
We Bury the Dead is written and directed by Australian filmmaker Zak Hilditch. In the film, Ridley plays Ava Newman, a physiotherapist who joins a body retrieval team in hopes of finding her husband on an island plagued by the undead. Since its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, the movie has received a Tomatometer rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 115 reviews.
“After a catastrophic American military experiment, resulting in mass casualties across Tasmania. Ava (Ridley) joins a body retrieval unit to help identify the dead and search for her husband in the southern part of the island,” reads the official synopsis. “As Ava makes her way south, across the ravaged landscape, she soon learns that some of the victims of the disaster are coming back to life.”
We Bury the Dead also starred Brenton Thwaites (Titans), Mark Coles Smith (Mystery Road: Origin), Matt Whelan (Narcos), Chloe Hurst (Andi Mack), Kym Jackson (Eat Brains Love), and more. The film was produced by Kelvin Munro, Grant Sputore, Ross M. Dinerstein, Joshua Harris, and Mark Fasano. Executive producers were Nathan Klingher, Ford Corbett, D.J. Jiang, Nicholas Erickson, Sean Fannan, Ari Novak, Lee Broda, Ari Harrison, and Jeff Harrison.
