September 2024 is ready to keep Chinese drama enjoyers entertained as it will deliver many new and exciting shows. The lineup will cover various genres, such as romance, costume, and spy, among others. From thriller drama The First Shot to modern romance Their Wonderful Time, here’s a list of Chinese series that will be broadcast throughout the month of September.

The First Shot

This upcoming Chinese drama is set to premiere on September 3, 2024. It features Johnny Huang, Wang Zi Qi, Chloe Xie, Liu Run Nan, and Zhao Yu Tong in the main roles. The drama is set in the 90’s and tells the story of Halan in the Northeast. Since the Narcotics Control Bureau was still not formed, the region faced an uprise in drug-related crimes. To deal with the severity of the situation, a makeshift elite team is assembled, where each member possesses their own set of strengths.

While they confront the wicked drug trafficking syndicate and unveil their devious trafficking schemes, they must also deal with the moral dilemmas, and stand the tests of justice and humanity. They stand by each other and overcome all setbacks.

All 32 episodes of the drama will be available to stream on Youku.

Their Wonderful Time

This modern romantic fantasy Chinese drama will also premiere on September 3, 2024. Directed by Wang Feng, the drama features Zhou Jie Qiong and Ge Qiu Gu in the main roles. The web drama portrays the sweet and quirky love story of Song Ling Ling (Zhou Jie Qiong) and Xiao Ran (Ge Qiu Gu). The drama will reportedly release a total of 26 episodes and will be available to stream throughout the week on Tencent Video and WeTV.

Northward

Although this drama doesn’t have an exact release date as of yet, according to CCTV, it is tentatively scheduled for a September release. An Adaptation of Xu Ze Chen’s Bei Shang, the upcoming drama is set in the year 2000. A mysterious ten-year-old girl arrives at Flower Street by the canal and becomes the talk of the town because of her extraordinary appearance.

After an accident took Ma Si Yi’s brother and grandmother’s life, she disappeared. Her childhood friends, who have always protected her, have also left their hometown one by one. Because of the sudden appearance of Ma Si Yi, the young boys and girls who grew up together come together again. However, the pressure of competition and life has put them all in a state of confusion.

Northward will be available to stream on iQIYI.

The White Olive Tree

One of the most anticipated Chinese dramas of the year, it follows the story of Song Ran (Liang Jie), a TV reporter from Liang City, who gets into trouble while conducting an interview in the turbulent East Country. Li Zan (Chen Zheyuan), a Chinese engineer, rescues her. Despite initial differences, their shared ideals lead to them falling in love. However, a bombing attack separates them. After returning to China, they meet each other by luck. With this, their disrupted romance resumes once again.

The drama will be available to watch on iQIYI.

A Moment But Forever

This upcoming Chinese drama is an adaptation of Shi Si Lang’s novel Unparalleled in the World. The series follows the story of Goddess Wu Shuang (Tiffany Tang), who descends to Earth to retrieve a heavenly treasure called “God’s Left Hand.” However, she has to assassinate Yuan Zhong (Liu Xueyi), the high priest of Youhu Clan. As she delves deep into the latter’s secrets, the two gradually fall in love and team up to save the world.

Other than these, the Chinese BL drama Old Days in the Middle of Summer will come out on September 15, 2024.
