Barcelona give up on leading transfer target

La Liga giants Barcelona have called time on their pursuit of a chief attacking transfer target ahead of the summer.

The player in question? Yan Diomande.

Wide-man Diomande is for his part in the midst of something of a breakout campaign to date, on the books of German outfit RB Leipzig.

The Ivory Coast international has proven himself one of the Bundesliga’s very standout wingers, on his way to 19 goal contributions in 29 appearances.

Still just 19 years of age, and with remarkable ability in one-on-one situations, Diomande has therefore been added to the transfer wishlists of a whole host of European clubs.

One such suitor came in the form of the aforementioned Barcelona, on the lookout for alternatives to the on-loan Marcus Rashford for next season.

As alluded to above, though, the Blaugrana have come to the conclusion that a deal for Diomande is at this point simply not realistic.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Leipzig want to close the most expensive sale in their history, so the Blaugrana have already jumped off this train and will not enter the bidding. If Diomande leaves, he aims for the Premier League.’
