AC Milan pull out of the race for out-of-contract Barcelona forward

The future of Robert Lewandowski is fast becoming one of the most delicate issues for Barcelona as the season enters its decisive phase.

With his contract set to expire in June, the lack of concrete progress in renewal talks has only intensified speculation.

For a player of Lewandowski’s stature, it is no surprise that interest is building across multiple markets.

As such, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer have already been linked, while several European sides have also been monitoring the situation closely.

Among them, AC Milan had emerged as a serious contender in recent weeks.

The Italian giants were reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing the experienced striker to Serie A, with internal discussions taking place at the board level.

Ruling out the move

However, recent developments suggest that Milan have now taken a clear stance on the matter.

According to reports from SPORT, the AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has effectively ruled out pursuing Lewandowski.

The decision was reportedly communicated during a recent Lega meeting, where key figures from Italian football gathered to discuss league matters.

This revelation offers an important twist in what has been a fluid transfer story.

Despite earlier links, Milan’s leadership appears unconvinced about the move, even though not everyone within the club shares the same view.

Interestingly, there seems to be an internal divide. While Furlani is not in favour of signing the Barcelona striker, Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has shown a more open stance.

As per the outlet, Tare recently held talks in Italy with Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi, signalling that at least part of the club remains interested in exploring the opportunity.

Still, the CEO’s position carries more weight, and for now, it appears to have shut the door on a potential move to the San Siro.

That effectively narrows Lewandowski’s immediate options in Europe, even as interest from other regions continues to grow.
