Gasgoo Munich- The 19th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition kicked off on April 24, with Nexteer Automotive showcasing a suite of technologies in Hall W1, including Steer-by-Wire and Brake-by-Wire systems. Its Electro-Mechanical Braking (EMB) system has completed full development and rigorous validation, and is now officially market-ready.

The EMB system made its public debut just last year at the Shanghai Auto Show. In the short span of a year, Nexteer has synchronized product design, production line construction, and supply chain layout, completing the full cycle of simulation testing, bench testing, and extreme cold winter validation. Over 20 clients have completed in-depth driving evaluations, and multiple projects have entered the technical cooperation phase. This establishes Nexteer’s full-stack Steer-by-Wire motion control capabilities spanning both steering and braking domains.
Nexteer attributes this capability expansion to the reuse of its existing foundation: actuator modules and motion controller hardware are shared across platforms, while assembly equipment and core supply chains overlap significantly. The integrated “Brake-Steer Fusion” software achieves cross-domain functional safety redundancy, providing execution-layer support for L3 and higher-level advanced driver assistance systems.
Li Jun, Global Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and President of Asia Pacific at Nexteer Automotive, put it more directly: “Fusion is not a simple ‘1+1,’ but an inevitable evolution based on the underlying logic of mechatronics. It is the key path to achieving both safety and economy for high-level autonomous driving.”
With the show themed “Leading the Era, Smart Future,” Nexteer responds with its “M³” positioning: Motion, Millisecond, and Mastery. The Motion-by-Wireâ„¢ technology portfolio on display packages Steer-by-Wire, Rear Wheel Steering, Brake-by-Wire, and Motion IQâ„¢ software, allowing visitors to experience full vehicle handling from a simulator cockpit. Meanwhile, the Motion X interactive installation specifically demonstrates EMB’s four-wheel independent control and millisecond-level braking response.
At the same time, Nexteer’s Steer-by-Wire technology has also entered the mass production phase, with multiple global OEM projects slated to begin production within the next 12 months.
With 120 years of technical heritage evolving from mechanical steering to today’s Steer-by-Wire and Brake-by-Wire, Nexteer currently serves over 60 automakers globally. Through technical displays and interactive experiences at this Beijing Auto Show, the company demonstrated its technical reserves and mass production capabilities amid the trend toward intelligent chassis wire control, providing the underlying execution support for high-level advanced driver assistance.
