Insurance company AXA Hong Kong and Macau has finalised the re-domiciliation of its China-focused insurance holding company from Bermuda to Hong Kong.
The re-domiciliation process was completed on 26 January 2026.

The move involves AXA China Region Insurance Company (Bermuda) (ACRIB), which has been renamed AXA China Region Insurance Company (Hong Kong) following the transfer.
It was executed under the re-domiciliation framework introduced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
AXA first disclosed plans for the relocation in May 2025, stating that the objective was to streamline regulatory reporting and compliance arrangements.
AXA Greater China CEO Sally Wan said: “Leveraging Hong Kong’s robust economy and its role as a regional hub for insurance and risk management, we are confident that AXA’s long-term success will continue to advance. Looking ahead, we remain committed to creating long-term value for our customers, partners and the community, while actively pursuing sustainable growth.”
According to the group, the shift in jurisdiction does not alter the company’s legal entity, organisational set-up or day-to-day operations.
Existing contracts will remain in effect, and policyholders, distributors and business partners will continue to hold the same rights and obligations.
In the week beginning 2 February 2026, the company plans to submit applications to Macau authorities to update the registered name of its local branch.
AXA said the move underscores Hong Kong’s role as a financial centre and represents one of the earliest instances of an insurer making use of the new re-domiciliation regime.
The group added that the transfer is designed to position Hong Kong as the operational base for the business while ensuring continuity for customers and counterparties.
Last week, AXA’s Digital Commercial Platform entered into a partnership with Finnish satellite operator ICEYE to incorporate synthetic aperture radar imagery into its risk-monitoring services.
ICEYE satellite data will be used to monitor floods, fires and storms as it expands predictive risk services.
