Scooter Braun’s New Comments About Taylor Swift Explained

Scooter Braun has opened up about the fallout with Taylor Swift. He has reflected on his intentions behind acquiring Swift’s former record label as well as their relationship. Further, Braun also talked about how the backlash completely shifted his perspective.

Here’s what Braun said.

What did Scooter Braun say about rumored Taylor Swift feud?

Scooter Braun has finally addressed the long-running controversy involving Taylor Swift. Reflecting on the events that unfolded after he acquired her former record label, Big Machine, in 2019, Braun admitted that he was unprepared for the intense backlash that followed.

Appearing on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Braun talked about how he believed that it would be an “exciting thing.” He said, “When I bought Big Machine, I thought I was going to work with all the artists on Big Machine.” He recalled having met Swift a few times over the years.

However, Braun acknowledged that his decision to manage Kanye West and Justin Bieber in the years following those interactions may have complicated things. He said, “This is where my arrogance came in — I had a feeling she probably didn’t like me because I managed them. But I thought that once this announcement happened, she would talk to me, see who I am, and we would work together.”

Instead, Swift publicly condemned the deal, saying she felt “sad and grossed out” that Braun had gained control of her master recordings. Braun said the post caught him off guard. He said, “And I was just, like, shocked.”

Reflecting on the backlash, Braun said the incident completely shifted his perspective. He said, “Having that experience allows me to have empathy for the people I worked with, who I’d always say, ‘Yeah, I understand,’ but I never knew what it was like to be on the global stage like that.”

Eventually, Braun decided to part ways with Swift’s master recordings, selling them in 2020 to a private equity firm. Swift has since acquired the rights herself, which includes Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation.
