The latest death in The Boys Season 5 isn’t one that fans necessarily need to feel too sad about.
Prime Video is currently in the process of releasing The Boys Season 5, which will be the final entry in the popular superhero show. The first five episodes are now available to watch on the streaming service, with new episodes continuing to come out weekly until the finale arrives on May 20, 2026.

Who dies in the most recent episode of The Boys?
Given that it’s the final chapter of The Boys, it shouldn’t surprise fans that there have already been a lot of deaths this season. Perhaps the most notable example of this comes in the very first episode, where Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train/Reggie Franklin is murdered by Homelander (Antony Starr). Cameron Crovetti’s Ryan Butcher almost suffered the same fate; however, he managed to survive a brutal attack from his father.
In the latest episode of The Boys, the Firecracker character, played by Valorie Curry, finds herself facing Homeland’s wrath. This comes after she expresses some discomfort in Homelander’s newfound belief in his own divinity, as it goes against her own religious beliefs that she’s loudly professed to the world throughout the course of the show.
While it’s something of a bummer that Firecracker never had the chance for a true redemption arc, the character has always been an obstacle in the protagonists/anti-heroes way, who has garnered little to no sympathy from the audience up until now. She chose Team Homelander, and she rallied behind Team Homelander; even when her morals were betrayed by Homelander’s new agenda, she still got on camera and, albeit remorsefully, spouted his lies and propaganda.
So, while we can feel sad that Firecracker was in too deep to ever realize the error of her ways, her sudden death doesn’t carry the same impact as A-Train’s, for example, as he had fully come around to realizing Homelander is a terrible, evil person. Firecracker bought all of Homelander’s lies. Doing so ultimately led her to her grave. There’s perhaps a lesson to be learned in there, but the Starlighters can also celebrate this one as a victory.
