What did Gigi Hadid say about co-parenting daughter with ex-Zayn Malik?
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik remain committed to co-parenting their daughter, Khai.
In Vogue’s April 2025 issue, Hadid, 29, shared insights into their parenting dynamic, stating that they “have each other’s backs” when it comes to raising their 4-year-old daughter. “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs,” Hadid told the magazine.
Hadid and Malik welcomed Khai in September 2020 but split in October 2021 after an alleged incident involving Hadid’s mother, Yolanda. Despite this, they have built a respectful co-parenting relationship. “There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything,” Hadid said. “At the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other.”
In a March 2023 interview with The Sunday Times, Hadid said she was grateful to be a young mother. She also shared how she balances work with parenting. “That she can be with both parents makes me very happy,” she said (via People.) She tries to schedule work when Khai is with Malik.
When Khai turned four in September 2024, both parents celebrated her birthday on Instagram. Hadid wrote, “Khai- it is my life’s greatest joy and pride to be your mama!!!! Thank you for the four best years of my life- you remind me to live life to the fullest every day.” Malik also posted, calling Khai “the most important person in my life” and saying he was “beyond proud to call you my daughter.”
