Worcester County Health Department announces Healthy Lifestyle Balance Program

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – The Worcester County Health Department is kicking off its Healthy Lifestyle Balance Program.

It’s a year-long, 26 session course free to anyone who works or lives in Worcester County.

Organizers said it combines educational material with group support, helping to prevent or delay the onset of Diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic health conditions.

Kelly Williams, nutritionist and program leader, said “We do equal parts of educational material, but also group support, and it’s that group support that makes the difference for our clients because they’re in the room with not just a health care provider or a coach, but other people who are going through the same thing that they’re going through.” Continuing, she said, “We want people to not just have a lot of years. We want them to have a lot of great quality years. And so our program is really based around helping people make the types of changes that they need to have an active and healthy lifestyle that they can enjoy for many years to come.”

Classes for the year-long program will start in October at locations in Berlin, Snow Hill, and Pocomoke City.
