A-list stars Keanu Reeves and Julia Roberts‘ upcoming movies for Warner Bros. Pictures have finally received major updates. This marks Reeves’ latest collaboration with the studio, after 2021’s The Matrix Resurrections and 2022’s DC League of Super-Pets. Meanwhile, Roberts has been attached to star in director Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully movie since 2024.
When are the release dates for the Keanu Reeves & Julia Roberts movies?
Warner Bros. Pictures has officially announced the release dates for Reeves’ untitled sci-fi movie and Roberts’ Panic Carefully. The studio will be releasing the new Reeves movie on August 13, 2027, in theaters. Initially called Shiver, the project will be directed by Tim Miller, with Ian Shorr writing the screenplay. It is produced by Matthew Vaughn, Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, and John Zaozirny.
So far, Reeves is the only confirmed cast member for the untitled project. When it was first revealed, the movie was initially described as having the shades of Tom Cruise’s time-loop action movie Edge of Tomorrow and Blake Lively’s shark movie The Shallows. The story will reportedly center around a “ne’er-do-well smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in him surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and thirsty sharks alike. He next finds himself in a deathly time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”
As for Roberts’ upcoming star-studded movie, Panic Carefully is now scheduled to arrive in IMAX theaters on February 26, 2027. It is written and directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, who previously worked with Roberts in Netflix’s apocalyptic drama movie Leave the World Behind. Joining Ocean’s Eleven alum are Eddie Redmayne, Brian Tyree Henry, Ben Chaplin, Aidan Gillen, Joe Alwyn, Naledi Murray, and Elizabeth Olsen.
The story is expected to revolve around the hunt for a cyber-terrorist. The project is also being described as a paranoid thriller with tonal influences from 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs. The film is produced by Esmail, Chad Hamilton, Scott Stuber, Roberts, Marisa Yeres Gill, and Lisa Gillan, with Kevin McCormick and Chrystal Li tap to oversee the movie on behalf of the studio.
