A woman told officers she shot the windows of her North Codorus Township home out after her husband locked her out of the garage where she intended to make her morning coffee, according to court documents.
Lisa Wilson, 58, of North Codorus Township, was charged with a felony count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, along with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another person, according to charging documents filed by Northern York County Regional Police.
Wilson, unable to post $50,000 bail, was arrested and confined inside York County Prison, where she remains, according to court records.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Wilson had called 911 around 7:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, to report that her husband had locked her out of the house, and that she had shot out the windows.
The affidavit states that officers were familiar with Wilson and her husband, due to responding to the home for verbal disputes three times in the 24 hours leading up to the call.
Officers arrived and found glass shattered out from a glass door leading into the garage of the home, as well as a second garage entry door, the affidavit states.
When officers made contact with Wilson, she told officers she needed to get into the garage of the home to make her coffee that morning, and that her husband had put 2x4s across the garage door and changed the locks to prevent her from entering the garage, the affidavit said.
Wilson told officers she had shot out the windows with a .22 caliber, and that she thought she fired three rounds, but that she “does not have a good understanding of how firearms work,” according to the affidavit. She additionally told officers that she was not comfortable handling or using firearms, the documents said.
Officers conducted a gunshot residue kit on Wilson on the scene, the affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, officers found that all other doors were accessible inside the house, and that “although Lisa could not access the garage, she still had access to the entire house, no other part of the home was locked.”
Officers entered the garage entry door that was shot out, and found two firearms on a tanning bed in the garage, the affidavit states.
One firearm was a SCCY CPX-1 9mm, which had one round in the chamber and 11 in the magazine, and the other firearm was a North American .22 mini-revolver, which had four spent shell casings in the barrel, according to the affidavit.
While investigating, officers were unable to locate where the rounds went after they entered the garage, but noted that it was “obvious” the windows were shot out of both doors to the garage, the affidavit states. Officers did find 2x4s across the access door to the garage from the basement of the home, the affidavit said.
Officers noted that the home was just 50 yards from the York County Heritage Rail Trail, which they describe as being heavily populated by pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as having other occupied homes in the vicinity, according to the affidavit.
After investigating, Wilson was arrested by officers and taken into custody, the affidavit states.
Officers made contact with Wilson’s husband, who was no longer at the scene, and advised him on how to obtain a protection from abuse order, according to the affidavit.
A preliminary hearing for Wilson is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2024, according to records.
