Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today congratulated Yang Qianyu on winning a gold medal in the Road Cycling Women’s Road Race event at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, the seventh gold for the Hong Kong, China delegation.
Mr Yeung said: “Driven by her unyielding spirit, Yang Qianyu remained calm during the competition and gained victory. We are exhilarated and thrilled.
“The Hong Kong, China delegation has been attaining remarkable achievements. We fully support Hong Kong athletes to continue to strive for excellent results.”
Winning the bronze were: Lee Ka-yi and Wong Chi-him in the Squash Mixed Doubles; Ho Tze-lok in the Squash Women’s Singles; Henry Leung in the Squash Men’s Singles as well as the Bridge Women’s Team of Pearlie Chan, Charmian Koo, Tang Tsz-in, Joyce Tung, Flora Wong and Yeung Hoi-ning.
The Hong Kong team has so far won 50 medals – seven golds, 15 silvers and 28 bronzes – at the Asian Games this year, breaking the record of 46 medals at the last Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
