XPeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) has launched its 2026 X9 electric MPV in Hong Kong, with early bird pricing starting at HK$799,900 (c. $102,000) for the Standard Range front-wheel-drive model. The seven-seat flagship people-mover marks the brand’s entry into Hong Kong’s premium MPV segment as XPeng pushes its international expansion.

Three variants are available at launch. The Standard Range FWD is priced at HK$799,900 under early bird terms — reduced from a regular HK$819,900 — while the Long Range FWD carries an early bird price of HK$849,900 (c. $108,400), down from HK$869,900. The top-spec AWD Performance model is listed at HK$899,900 (c. $114,800). A purchase intent deposit of HK$60,000 secures the early bird offer.

The 2026 X9 was first launched in mainland China on March 2, 2026, starting at 309,800 CNY (c. $45,000) — a 13.9% reduction from the outgoing pure-electric model’s 359,800 CNY opening price. XPeng positioned the price cut as part of a broader push to grow volumes in China’s premium segment, with the company targeting 550,000 to 600,000 global deliveries in 2026.

The X9 is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and comes equipped with 5C ultra-fast charging as standard across all three Hong Kong variants. The Standard Range model — using a 94.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery — can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 12 minutes, with peak DC charging reaching 537 kW. The Long Range and AWD Performance trims carry a 110 kWh NCM pack with peak DC charging of 542 kW.

WLTP-rated range is 535 km (332 miles) for the Standard Range, 615 km (382 miles) for the Long Range, and 580 km (360 miles) for the AWD Performance. The AWD model pairs a permanent magnet synchronous motor with an induction motor for a combined output of 370 kW (500 PS) and 640 N·m, covering 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The two FWD variants produce 235 kW (320 PS) and complete the same sprint in 8.2 and 7.7 seconds respectively. Top speed across all variants is capped at 200 km/h, with a drag coefficient of 0.236.

The X9 measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a 3,160 mm wheelbase. Boot capacity ranges from 721 to 2,514 litres with seats folded. Passenger equipment includes full-grain Nappa leather on front and second-row seats, with second-row captain’s chairs offering 14-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage. A 27-speaker XOPERA surround-sound system, 21-inch head-up display, 21.4-inch rear-seat screen, and 17.3-inch digital dashboard are standard on all variants.

Every Hong Kong model is fitted with XPeng’s in-house Turing AI chip — rated at up to 2,250 TOPS of compute — paired with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295 infotainment processor. The XPILOT driver assistance hardware includes seven intelligent driving cameras, four 360° HD cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. An all-aluminum chassis, active rear-wheel steering, and an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension with up to 90 mm of ride height adjustment are standard across all three trims.

XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng has stated that overseas sales are expected to double in 2026, with international operations projected to contribute over 70% of group profits by 2030. Whether the X9 can justify its price premium in Hong Kong — where it enters a market occupied by the Toyota Alphard and upper-range European MPVs — will be a meaningful test of how far Chinese premium EVs can stretch in one of Asia’s most established luxury car markets.
