Xabi Alonso drops Real Madrid transfer hint

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has on Saturday hinted that the club could dip into the transfer market this January.

This comes amid mounting calls for Los Blancos’ board to add to a number of areas of the club’s squad.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media this afternoon, Alonso was drawn on the plans of he and the club for the window ahead.

And the Spanish tactician went on to explain:

“We always have to be on the lookout in the transfer market. We’re happy with the squad, but we must be attentive.”

Xabi Alonso’s comments of course come on the eve of Real Madrid kicking into gear their fixture list for the new year.

Amid their ongoing efforts to hunt down arch rivals Barcelona atop the La Liga table, Los Merengues are primed to welcome Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis to the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday afternoon.
