No, Instagram is not adding a profile views feature in any of the 2024 updates.

Every day, social media users, particularly those on Instagram, are bombarded with new rumors. One such case happened in late August 2024. It started spreading like wildfire on various social media sites such as X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, suggesting that Instagram was on the verge of launching a new feature that would enable users to see who has been viewing their profiles.

However, this rumor swiftly caught fire, stirring a blend of enthusiasm and anxiety among users. The chatter revolved around the possibility of the Meta-owned app introducing a “profile views” feature, similar to what TikTok provides as of today. This information is false whereas Instagram has not revealed any plans to implement such a feature. Also, there are currently no ongoing tests or developments related to this capability.

According to a post via Instagram Threads, a user revealed that Instagram will not bring profile views stating “We’re not turning into Linkedin.”

Up till now, Instagram users can freely share their content and stories. But, this platform ensures that profile visitors remain anonymous, regardless of whether they follow the account or not. Although some users may be eager to know who is looking at their profiles, the app has chosen to keep that information fully confidential.
