Charlie Cox reveals canceled plans to keep Foggy alive in Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox has revealed that Daredevil: Born Again showrunners once considered an alternate storyline in which Foggy Nelson survived. However, the idea was ultimately abandoned. The actor addressed the topic while responding to fan theories, confirming that while the concept was briefly explored, it was never implemented in the final storyline.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, “So I’ll tell you what’s impressive about that. I remember there was a moment where they discussed the possibility of that being the case.” He further explained that the concept involved a late reveal, stating, “at the end of season 1 you saw Foggy in a cage.”
Despite that early consideration, the creative team chose not to proceed with the idea. “Sadly, that was not the case,” Cox said. He emphasized that the team chose to avoid it because “we didn’t believe that it was realistic. And the thing about our show is we try to keep it as realistic as possible.”
The speculation largely started from a storyline involving Wilson Fisk, portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio, who establishes a task force that detains his opponents. This led some viewers to believe that Foggy Nelson could have been secretly kept alive.
However, the series clearly establishes his fate. After uncovering illegal dealings linked to Red Hook Port, Foggy becomes a target. Vanessa Fisk, played by Ayelet Zurer, releases Bullseye, portrayed by Wilson Bethel, who fatally shoots him in the opening episode.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2026, on Disney+.
