Roman Reigns‘ WWE future has been cast in uncertainty and doubt after former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman shared his thoughts on the same in a recent podcast appearance. Accordingly, fans of the wrestler have been anxiously wondering if he was bidding adieu to the wrestling world. Reigns has been a fixture of WWE since 2010, with many considering him to be one of the world’s best professional wrestlers.
So, will Roman Reigns be cut from WWE? Will Roman Reigns leave WWE? Here’s what we know about Roman Reigns’ WWE exit.
Will Roman Reigns leave WWE soon?
Roman Reigns’s WWE exit has a great chance of happening as he doesn’t seem to be safe from TKO’s budget cut plans, according to ex-WWE employees Jonathan Coachman and Tommy Carlucci.
Coachman discussed Reigns’ potential departure in a recent episode of The Last Word podcast. He discussed Reigns’ words of signing “another two-year deal” and then quitting wrestling after that. Coachman then pointed out how Reigns made between 15-20 million dollars a year despite his part-time status. He wondered how it made sense to pay him that much money, even though he would only “appear 10 to 20 times in a year.”
“I mean, at that number, he’s making over a million dollars an appearance,” Coachman added. “Is it worth all that when all these other superstars are getting dropped?” (via TJ Wrestling)
Carlucci then weighed in on Reigns’ possible departure. He shared that TKO executives would start reconsidering how to handle Reigns. He noted that while TKO wouldn’t cut Reigns “completely,” the wrestler will not be paid any amount “near 15 to 20 million.”
“And they say, if you don’t like it, lump it. That’s the point, they’re executives,” Carlucci added. He then expressed his doubt at Triple H vouching to keep Reigns’ contract active, noting it wouldn’t happen. “I think he’s running scared, guys,” he added.
Reigns himself hinted at his exit in an April Vanity Fair interview. He shared that he had “another year or two max,” following his current contract, after which he planned to “take on a less physical form of entertainment.”
Recently, several wrestlers have been cut from WWE. These include Braun Strowman and R-Truth. According to online reports, Strowman’s release was prompted by his high salary.
Reigns has been missing in action since he was attacked by Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins.
